Mr Briggs – who joined the life insurer in 2015 following its acquisition of Friends Life – will be replaced by chief risk officer Angela Darlington on an interim basis. Recently appointed chief executive Maurice Tulloch has also beefed up the international insurance division. Aviva Canada and global corporate & speciality head Colm Holmes and Aviva France chief Patrick Dixneuf – who becomes chief of Aviva's European businesses – will join Aviva's leadership team, meaning there will be no replacement for Mr Tulloch as head of the international business.
