FDM (FDM) expects its financial performance for the 12 months to December 2019 to be in line with expectations. The group hires graduates, ex-Forces personnel and returners to work, and then trains them up as IT consultants and deploys them to client firms – ended the year with 3,924 so-called ‘Mounties’ placed on client sites, an increase of 5 per cent. Revenues landed at £272m, up by 11 per cent, and FDM said that contractor revenue is no longer material.
True, the UK and Ireland had fewer Mounties deployed, at 1,910, down by 5 per cent. This stemmed from reduced demand from UK government departments, ahead of Brexit clarity and political leadership changes – albeit tempered by “good progress” in other areas. Presumably, one can assume that a little more certainty on both fronts should help FDM in this territory over the coming months.
In North America, the number of Mounties deployed rose by 7 per cent to 1,277 – while in the Asia-Pacific region, Mounties deployed rose by 29 per cent to 497. In Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Mounties deployed increased by almost a half to 240.
