The US continues to be a great place for ETF investing given the relatively mature nature of the market – making it a difficult place for active managers to add value. As one of the first markets to be covered by ETFs, the funds are large, liquid and priced competitively. We have included a broad range of ETF options for the US, including simple large-cap, small-cap and income products, but also ones that tilt towards tech stocks and value stocks – and it could be an interesting time for both. There is also a currency hedged fund for those unwilling to take currency risk. Note that many US equity ETFs will outperform their indices due to favourable withholding tax differences between the index and the fund.
