Gem Diamonds has temporarily suspended operations at its Cempaka alluvial diamond mine in Indonesia to investigate a number of environmental concerns raised by the South Kalimantan regional government. Gem's own environmental consultants believe the the government concerns are without merit and the company expects to resume mining following these investigations.
