Following a difficult 2014, Consort Medical (CSRT) saw its share price stage a recovery in December. That may explain why chief executive Jonathan Glenn has seen fit to realise some value.
Mr Glenn offloaded 42,700 shares from his own holdings and 24,300 shares on behalf of his wife, Janis Glenn. Both sales were made at 845p, netting Mr Glenn £360,815 and his wife £205,335. This leaves the couple in control of 0.17 per cent of the company.
There's no update yet on a potential launch date for the group's hotly-anticipated nicotine replacement product, which was given market clearance by authorities last September. The imitation cigarette was developed by Kind Consumer, and will be commercialised by Nicoventures, a subsidiary of British American Tobacco (BATS). Consort's core drug-delivery device business Bespak will manufacture the product.
It's still too early to judge the success of last year’s Aesica acquisition. But as a contract business Aesica should improve the visibility of Consort's revenue stream, and analysts still believe it will boost earnings by 10 to 14 per cent come 2016. It could also help restore company margins to their historic level of around 15 per cent.
