Expectations for RM2 International (RM2) are high. Broker Cenkos predicts the group will move into the black in 2014 with a profit of $0.6m, rising to $28m in 2015. And chief executive John Walsh has thrown his weight behind the group, buying 1,200,000 shares at 54p last week. He now has almost 7 per cent of the group's share capital.
The company, which has developed a new type of pallet for transporting goods, initially raised £137m when it floated on Aim in January last year. Its pallets are made from a fibre and resin composite, reportedly superior to existing wooden or plastic pallets because they are more durable, safer and cheaper over the lifecycle of the product.
During the first half of 2014 RM2 generated revenues of just US$0.78m (£0.52m) and an operating loss of $21m. The group experienced a few teething problems with its supply chain, and these hit first-half pallet production. However, the group has opened a new Canadian facility, which has doubled capacity and should help resolve the operational issues.
