BoE figures show that unsecured lending (excluding mortgages) increased at its fastest pace in a decade in January, up 9.1 per cent in a month to £1.6bn. Not only that, but mortgage approvals hit their highest levels for two years in January, with £13.9bn lent out to 74,581 people.
