Most UK funds sold as "ethical"would be banned from using the description in Belgium & France. So should we trust what they do what they say on the tin?

Nine out of ten "ethical" and "socially responsible" (SRI) funds in the UK do not meet mimimum European disclosure standards, and would be banned from using such labels in Belgium and France.

Is this a problem for investors? Or, should they trust ethical fund managers to invest 100 per cent ethically, even though, in some cases they are keeping 90 per cent of their holdings a secret?

Katie Morley asks Catherine Howarth, chief executive of think-tank ShareAction, Simon Howard, chief executive of the UK Sustainable Investment Forum (UKSIF), and Jason Hollands, business development manager at Bestinvest, what they think.
