Last year was simply out of this world for Orbital Sciences (US: ORB). The maker of spacecraft, satellites and test missiles launched its first Antares rocket and has just completed a maiden commercial resupply mission to the International Space Station (ISS) for NASA. Orbital made record sales in the fourth quarter, and 2014 should be even busier.

Crucially, the expensive development phase of the Antares rocket and Cygnus capsule project is over. Another two ISS missions are scheduled for this year, part of an eight-flight contract and programme of up to 60 other launches of satellites, missile defense vehicles and smaller research rockets in 2014.
