A quartet of directors from Stock Spirits Group (STCK) has shelled out just under £400,000 in aggregate to bump-up their holdings in the Central and Eastern European liquor peddler. The deals were struck subsequent to a downbeat management update, which detailed "a very tough trading period" during the latter half of the third quarter. Most of the problems were linked to familiar supply chain issues in Poland, but the company also revealed that pricing in its markets became increasingly cut-throat as the year progressed.

As a consequence, Stock Spirits warned that unless trading conditions improved, there was a risk that full-year cash profits could come in anywhere between €5m-€10m below current market expectations. It's enough to make management take to drink, but the board obviously thought that putting some cash on the line would send out a more positive message to investors.
