A quiet morning in London heralds the last half day’s trading before the Christmas break.

IC TIP UPDATES:

Simon Thompson recommendation Avation (AVAP) has won its first contract to supply a new ATR 72-600 aircraft to Air India’s domestic arm.

KEY STORIES:

Intu Properties (INTU), which specialises in shopping malls, has agreed to pay €451m to acquire the Puerto Venecia shopping centre and mall in Zaragoza, Spain. Along with the Parco Principado centre in Oviedo, it mains Intu now owns two of the top ten shopping centres in Spain.

OTHER COMPANY NEWS:

Empiric Student Property (ESP) has completed the acquisition of the former Willowbank primary school in Glasgow from the local authority with a view to redeveloping it into student accommodation.

Deltex Medical (DEMG) has won an order for 60 of its oesophageal doppler monitoring units from NHS supply chain but has also said that it is currently trying to close orders from various NHS trusts worth £1m which would allow it to match last year’s performance. If the contracts slip, along with a £300,000 one in Canada, the profits will come in below last year’s.
