Carl Jackson, chief executive and co-founder of MySale Group (MYSL), has parted with just under £3m to buy another 3.7m shares in the online Australian fashion site. A month earlier those same shares would have set back Mr Jackson around £7.8m, but a profits warning midway through December wiped £150m off MySale’s market capital. MySale generates its revenues through so-called 'flash sales' of branded fashion goods, but the retail environment in its Australasian markets has been in the doldrums ever since the company was admitted to Aim in June.

Mr Jackson already owns a 34.8 per cent stake in MySale through a group known as a 'concert party', which includes his brother Jamie and other minor shareholders. Other high-profile backers, most notably Topshop supremo, Sir Philip Green (22.5 per cent), and Sport Direct’s Mike Ashley (4.8 per cent) also incurred heavy paper losses following the announcement. Because of his beneficial holding linked to the concert party, the purchase of any more shares by Mr Jackson would normally trigger a requirement for a general offer under Rule 9 of the Takeover Code. So he is now in the process of seeking support from a majority of shareholders in order to waive the requirement.
