Renew Holdings (RNWH) turned in record full-year results for its September year-end. But that hasn't stopped chief executive Brian May from offloading 350,000 shares in the flourishing engineering group. The transaction, which garnered around £994,000, came days after the group's director of engineering services, Paul Scott, shelled out about £143,000 on 5,000 shares at 286p.

Shares in Renew climbed about 60 per cent last year as it reaped the rewards of its transformation from a predominately construction business into an engineering one. The group made strong inroads in rail and nuclear markets. This was borne out by Network Rail's decision to appoint Renew's AMCO Rail subsidiary to work on seven infrastructure frameworks, with a value of around £450m. However, Renew has retained a stake in high-end residential refurbishment projects in London and the Home Counties, where demand has remained strong. By the end of last year, the group's order book was up by a fifth to £449m.
