At first glance it might seem alarming that a Lookers (LOOK) board member has offloaded 10m shares in the car retailer. But investors shouldn't fear: the man behind the sale, Tony Bramall, remains the largest shareholder in Lookers, owning a 16 per cent slice of the company, which clearly shows he's committed to the business. What's more, it was actually his family vehicle that sold off the shares, rather than Mr Bramall himself, presumably for wider wealth management planning purposes. Accordingly, the sale shouldn't be interpreted as a negative view on the stock.

Mr Bramall has been a non-executive director on the Lookers board since 2006 and is widely known as the doyen of the motor retail industry. He founded CD Bramall, which he sold to Pendragon in 2004 for £230m. In that year he started his third motor dealership, Jones and Bramall, which was sold to Lookers in 2010.
