Shortly after returning to profit and announcing a move from the London main market to Aim, directors at model maker Hornby (HRN) have been topping up their stakes in the company. That also follows news of a £15m placing, funds from which will be used to pay off existing bank debt. Those building stakes were non-executive directors David Adams and Charlie Caminada and investment management firm Phoenix Asset Management Partners - the chairman of which, Roger Canham, also serves as chairman of Hornby.

It’s been a year of recovery for Hornby, particularly for the Asian supply chain which had been the "determining factor" behind mounting losses in 2013 and 2014. However, speaking at the time of full-year results, outgoing chief financial officer Nick Stone admitted the group still had a lot of work to do.
