Is the party winding down for buy-to-let (BTL) landlords and lenders? The price-book premium enjoyed by the 'challenger banks' over the major lenders is partly predicated on their stellar growth. Aldermore (ALD) chairman Glyn Jones, who joined the company within weeks of its initial public offering in March, clearly thinks the lender has space to grow, despite a tightening of the screws on BTL and the increase in competition in its asset finance and invoice finance business. He has bought £250,000-worth of shares at 263p. The lender's stock has displayed a classic post-IPO exuberance followed by a consolidation. Initially priced at 192p, it broke the 300p mark, before falling back to 233p.
