Regular readers, and most certainly Stanley Gibbons (SGI) investors, will be well aware of the company's woes over recent months. The stamp and collectibles specialist announced a placing and open offer to raise £13m to provide immediate working capital and ensure the near-term viability of the group back in March, and the group's directors have shown they're willing to back the move.

The most significant contributor was chief executive Mike Hall, who put £100,000 of his own money into the fundraising. Close behind him was finance chief Donal Duff who shelled out £75,000 to increase his own stake. Other directors involved included chairman Martin Bralsford and Clive Whiley - the latter of whom previously headed up boutique investment bank Evolution Securities China, but joined the Stanley Gibbons board as a director at the end of March following the equity-raising.
