Share plc (SHRE) executive chairman Gavin Oldham is selling up to €5m (£3.6m) of shares in the retail stockbroker, in a bid to raise funds for Share Radio, a separate business-focused radio station he launched last November.
The company, which owns The Share Centre, acknowledged the secondary offer was "uncommon", but believes it could be an example other companies might follow (with or without Share's assistance).
Retail investors have until 16 June to take up Mr Oldham's offer, though 55 per cent of the 10.9m shares have already been sold. Pre-existing shareholder Miton Asset Management has made a commitment for 2.3m shares, while a further 3.7m have been snapped up by the employee benefits trustee of Share and its subsidiaries.
Prior to this sale, analysts at Edison were forecasting pre-tax profits of £1.8m for the 2015 calendar year, and EPS of 1.01p, rising to £2.6m and 1.46p next year.
