Mixed picture for Marston's

IN BRIEF: Marston's sales grew at its managed pubs, but the more significant tenanted operation is still struggling

Pub group Marston's reported a mixed performance with its trading update this week, which covered the year to 2 October.

IC TIP: Sell at 97p

The managed pub business reported a 1.7 per cent like-for-like sales increase on the year, with like-for-like food sales up 2.5 per cent. And Marston's premium ale volumes grew 3 per cent compared to an overall UK beer market that declined 6 per cent. But Marston's tenanted pubs saw like for like-for-like sales fall 3.7 per cent.
