Modest outlook sends Laird’s shares spiralling

A brief trading update from Laird (LRD) outlining that it is on track to meet consensus expectations was not enough to appease investors. Indeed, shares in the electronic components company fell by 6 per cent, leaving analysts to suggest that a weaker pound and strong end markets ought to have translated into a more bullish outlook.

The producer of wireless applications, antennae systems, and products to protect electronic devices from electromagnetic interference and heat is expected to be a beneficiary of Apple’s recent product launches and rising demand for consumer electronics. A pick up in US auto sales, too, is likely to provide a welcome boost.
