Plenty of attention has been dedicated to Nvidia (US:NVDA) and other high-flying US stocks, but less glamorous markets are also putting in some punchy numbers. Both Europe and Japan are enjoying a stunning performance, with double-digit gains made last year alone.
It's not clear whether people are completely won over, though. Investment Association figures show that Japanese equity funds took in £466mn of money from DIY investors on a net basis in 2023, while European funds suffered an outflow of nearly £2.8bn. But the tide is certainly turning and investors looking to diversify away from the UK and US would be wise to consider these regions.
