Capital & Regional tarred with the wrong brush

Community shopping centres are outperforming the retail sector
March 15, 2019

As a retail landlord, Capital & Regional (CAL) has faced a wall of negative sentiment as the sector has been rocked by a series of insolvencies and company voluntary agreements (CVAs). This is a pity, because back in 2017 the company formed a new strategy to concentrate on in-town community shopping centres, with attractions such as communal meeting places, seating and even free nappies in the toilets. Crucially, all of this was provided at an average rent of £15 per square foot, which is cheap.
