Shares in South American oil explorer Amerisur Resources have drifted downwards as frustration grows over the lengthening delays that the company has experienced in getting approvals from the Colombian Ministry of Environment before it can expand the drilling programme at its Platanillo block.

Last month, at an institutional investor conference, Amerisur's chairman, Giles Clarke, sought to stop the rot by presenting details of alterations to the road programme at Platanillo, which have received the approval of the technical team at the ministry.
