Nokia's Lumia dims down

Shares in Nokia are down 11 per cent since our sell advice and could fall further
November 29, 2011

Analysts have slashed their sales forecasts for Nokia's first Windows phone, from 2m units for the quarter following its launch to just 500,000.

IC TIP: Sell at 425€

Even though Nokia said that the launch of the phone – the Lumia 800 – gave the Finnish handset manufacturer its best first-week sales in recent times, analysts at technology-focused investment bank Pacific Crest Securities have downgraded Christmas sales estimates.

The analysts say the new device fails to offer any clear advantage over rival devices. They think that its price is too high, as well. Moreover, the phone is still only available in six European countries.

Granted, the Lumia 800's launch was small scale and Nokia has flagged that a bigger push will be implemented next year when its partner, Microsoft, releases a new version of its operating system.
