RPS (RPS) is acquiring Texas-based engineering and environmental services consultancy Klotz Associates for a maximum cash price of $24.1m (£15.9m). Management said the business will complement the services RPS provides in the water sector and will enable the group to expand into other areas, including transport and infrastructure consulting. Shares in RPS rose 9 per cent on the day of the announcement.
Klotz has offices in Austin, San Antonio, Lufkin and Fort Worth as well as its Houston headquarters and employs 116 staff. It works primarily on transport, water and land development projects for public sector clients in Texas.
Earlier this month the engineering consultancy announced that its performance for 2014 would be at the top end of market expectations following stronger than expected fourth-quarter trading.
