Ding ding ding. That's the end of round one. Or is it two? Regardless, a fight is definitely breaking out over UAE-based private hospital operator Al Noor (ANH). On 5 October Al Noor admitted it had been approached by South Africa-based operator Mediclinic over a possible combination, before direct rival NMC Health (NMC) went public with an approach on 9 October.

At the time of writing, Al Noor had agreed terms of a reverse takeover with Mediclinic, only for NMC to respond two hours later saying it "remains committed" to a possible merger, albeit not before blaming Al Noor's board for "a lack of meaningful engagement" on the issue.
