Breedon Group (BREE), formerly known as Breedon Aggregates, changed its name after the successful acquisition of Hope Construction Materials in August, a move that nearly doubled the size of the company. Breedon directors have been active this year both increasing and decreasing their shareholdings, and in the latest move, non-executive director David Williams sold 6.7m shares at 71.6p a share.

This follows an earlier sale in March when he unloaded 5m shares at 68p a share, and his holding in the company is now down to 10m shares, or less than 1 per cent of the shares in issue. Breedon Group remains well placed to serve any increase in demand for aggregates and other construction materials, with more than 50 quarries dotted across England and Scotland as well as 200 ready-mixed concrete plants, 30 asphalt plants and around a quarter of a billion tonnes of reserves.
