The group's UK and Irish operation managed to grow like-for-like sales by 6.6 per cent in the first 13 weeks of the company's financial year, helped by the collapse of rival Allied Carpets. The performance in the group's rest of Europe unit was weaker - like-for-like sales there fell 2.8 per cent and two European stores have been closed.
