The scrutiny of gambling legislation by several US states has given UK operators an incentive to gain a foothold in vast potential market. Ladbrokes is the latest UK company to acquire a US presence with its purchase of a 65 per cent stake in Stadium Technology Group, a Las Vegas-based supplier of betting software, for $3m (£1.9m), with an option to acquire the rest over five years.
