Triumph in Brazil

Winning a big deal with Embraer is great news for Triumph
June 12, 2013

Triumph Group (US: TGI), the American maker of the bigger parts for major aircraft manufacturers, has just won a $1.7bn (£1.1bn) order from Embraer. It will design and build fuselage and tail sections for the Brazilian plane giant's second generation of E-Jets, a programme due to kick off later this year and enter service in 2018.

This is highly significant for Triumph. It has been courting Embraer for some time as part of a drive to diversify its workload away from Boeing, which generates about half the company's sales, and from military programmes under pressure from US government spending cuts. Earlier this month, it bought highly profitable Primus Composites which works for Airbus, Rolls Royce and Bombardier.
