The retail world has been buzzing this week with news that British department store House of Fraser is rumoured to be eyeing a return to a stock market listing and that failed electrical store Comet might be making a comeback.

According to the Financial Times, House of Fraser is considering a listing, along with other options, to simplify its shareholder structure. Meanwhile, entrepreneur Clive Coombes has unveiled plans to revive Comet. The new retailer will be called Meridian Comet and is to open 80 high street stores in the next two years. He's is looking for private investment before floating on the Alternative Investment Market and claims the stores will fill a niche for an "old fashioned" high street electricals store.
