European car sales fell 5 per cent last month. Most manufacturers struggled, but not Daimler (GER: DAI). Sales of high-end Mercedes-Benz jumped 9 per cent in its home market and are up 4 per cent in Europe so far this year. In fact, Daimler bosses say they're having trouble keeping up with demand.

Indeed, the new E-Class is selling fast and drove a 19 per cent surge in global sales for Mercedes in August, which is a new record. There was double-digit growth in the US and China, and new records were set in Japan, Canada and Mexico. Truck orders are up 23 per cent this year, too.
