The bank account of Nostrum Oil & Gas (NOG) executive chairman Frank Monstrey - or, more accurately, the bank account of the holding company he owns with his wife - has swollen by £16.5m. The couple probably would have hoped for more from their sale of 7.7m shares. The disposal was made at £2.135 per share, pretty much the lowest price for the stock since the Kazakh explorer listed in London in 2014.
For a further indication that the executive chairman did not expect the shares to lose 65 per cent of their value in that time, he also cancelled two sets of call options, for 5.2m and 3.3m shares respectively. On the surface, it is difficult to square the sale with comments dated March 2015, in which Mr Monstrey said he had "no intention to sell down [his] interest further", although the IC understands the sale was to cover personal financial liabilities. A Nostrum spokesperson added that the executive chairman remains committed to the company.
