Facilities management giant Mitie (MTO) has been busy getting its house in order. In the last year it sold its troubled healthcare division and completed an accounting review. The cost of repairing its past errors led the group to make a pre-tax operating loss of £42.9m in the year to March 2017.

None of these troubles are reflected in the recent directors' dealings, though. Indeed, no major shareholder or director has sold down a stake since the end of December 2015. Instead, this buying streak continued most recently with non-executive chairman Derek Mapp, who bought 100,000 shares for close to £267,000. This was Mapp’s first share purchase, too, having only been appointed to the board in May this year. That said, the transaction makes him the second-largest director shareholder behind chief executive Phil Bentley, who owns 0.51 per cent.
