Since its IPO in 2016, Blue Prism's (PRSM) shares have grown in value by 2,414 per cent – more than that of bitcoin in the same period. But unlike bitcoin, Blue Prism’s shareholders have been able to cash in some of their gains. Chairman Jason Kingdon seized his opportunity when the shares breached a record high of 1,800p, with four sales since the start of July earning him just under £9m.

After selling his anti-money-laundering tech business Searchspace in 2005, Mr Kingdon – an EY Entrepreneur of the year award winner – invested in a young Blue Prism. In 2008, he joined the board as chairman and by the time the company floated in 2016 owned a stake worth £4.9m – or 10 per cent of the company. Mr Kingdon chose not to top up his holding when Blue Prism placed new shares earlier this year but following this sale still retains an 8.6 per cent stake.
