Shares in BCA Marketplace (BCA) – the automotive service provider – are largely flat year on year, despite reasonable financial results and a rejected takeover proposal from private equity firm Apax Partners in June. That’s likely the result of ongoing uncertainty around the health of the UK car market, despite the recent uptick in new car registrations.

Even so, company chairman Avril Palmer-Baunack has chosen to offload £10.6m-worth of shares to institutional funds looking to up their exposure to the group. This follows a £1.1m disposal in February this year, although Mrs Palmer-Baunack has confirmed she has no current intention to sell further stock and remains “fully committed” to her role at BCA. She remains in control of a 1.1 per cent stake in the group.
