Anpario growing nicely

Solid first half bodes well for full year
September 20, 2012

Animal feeds specialist Anpario (ANP) enjoyed a solid opening six months of the year thanks to renewed focus within its UK agriculture division, continued good sales overseas and a three-month contribution from Meriden Animal Health, which was acquired in March.

Despite disruption in certain markets due to unrest in the Middle East and North Africa and economic meltdown in some European markets, Anpario posted a 25 per cent rise in adjusted earnings to £1.35m for the six months to June, after sales growth of 16 per cent to £10.8m. The UK agriculture division has been repositioned to concentrate on higher margin products while the Vitrition organic feed brand has also performed well. The international business, where Anpario has concentrated on growing sales into potentially huge emerging markets such as China and Brazil holds great promise - sales into China grew by 150 per cent in the fist half, albeit from a low base.
