Simon Thompson’s small cap jewel, Portfolio Clinic, podcasts on the election effects & more

IC Daily email update
June 12, 2017

In Simon Thompson’s column, he initiates coverage on a newly listed diversified and fast growing financial services company and one that has already beaten analyst expectations in its maiden results. Moreover, with the shares priced on 10 times earnings estimates, a deep discount to peers, and offering a prospective dividend yield close to 5 per cent, Simon sees scope for the ratings discount to narrow markedly. For good measure, the company has a cash-rich balance sheet to deploy on a smart looking roll-out strategy.

Meanwhile, Simon has also updated his list of all the recommendations he has written so far this year.

Our Portfolio Clinic this week features a couple in their late 50’s whose children are either financially independent or close to it, leaving them now looking ahead to providing for their own retirement. Find out what our experts made of their investments right now and feel free to make your own comments.

As the uncertain general election result continues to reverberate around the markets listen in to our special Companies & Markets show podcast, recorded in the hours after the result came in. Furthermore, our Personal Finance show also looked at the effect the election may have on bonds and currencies with JP Morgan’s chief investment officer for fixed income.
