It hasn’t been an easy couple of months for telematics and data insights company Trakm8 (TRAK). Back on 16 November 2018, the group’s shares plunged more than 60 per cent following a "disappointing" set of half-year results to September 2018.
Disappointing indeed: all financial metrics fell. Even worse, Trakm8 no longer anticipates a better second-half performance due to delayed decision making among customers and the loss – because of sanctions – of a multimillion pound contract to supply insurance solutions into Iran.
Current-year revenues could fall 20-25 per cent year on year, although management still believes in a "robust" longer-term market opportunity. But in an apparent demonstration of confidence, seven directors – including executive chairman John Watkins and finance director Jon Furber – contributed £0.7m to Trakm8’s £3m equity raise (agreed on 6 December 2018), based on a 22p subscription price, a 22.2 per cent premium to the prior day’s close.
