Shares in toymaker Character (CCT) rose 8 per cent following news that the company has been appointed as the main distributor in the UK and Ireland for merchandise associated with the Pokémon brand. The agreement with US-based global master toy licensee Wicked Cool Toys will see action figures, play sets and other toys based on the hit animated series join Character's portfolio from summer 2018.

Financial details of the deal have yet to be disclosed, but Jon Diver, joint managing director at Character, said he was “thrilled” to be adding the “iconic” brand to Character’s product line-up.
