Domino's Pizza has maintained its buoyant trading performance through the Christmas period as the icy grip of the recession and the cold snap have failed to dissuade pizza-lovers from picking up the phone. The 13 weeks to 27 December saw total sales across Domino's estate rise by 15.6 per cent with like-for-like sales across 501 mature stores up by 8.6 per cent. Like-for-like sales for the year were 8.4 per cent ahead, down slightly on last year's 10 per cent growth, but impressively resilient, nonetheless.
Expansion has continued apace with a record 55 new stores opening in 2009, taking the total estate to 608 stores. And the company's e-commerce channel continues to deliver an increasingly important element of its growth, with e-commerce sales up 40 per cent over the year, and now accounting for more than a quarter of total sales.
