Third quarter numbers from cruise-ship operator Carnival were buoyant, prompting the group to increase its guidance for full-year earnings from a range of $2.25-$2.35 to $2.48-$2.52. This follows a 22 per cent increase in third-quarter EPS and a 6.2 per cent increase in net revenue yields.

Booking volumes for the rest of the year and 2011 are running ahead of last year's levels and prices are stable. Meanwhile net costs per available lower berth, excluding fuel, are expected to be 4 per cent lower this year compared with previous expectations of 2.5 to 3.5 per cent.
