Bright outlook for Bellway

Trading continues to be good for downmarket housebuilder Bellway
August 8, 2012

The end of an era. After 51 years with housebuilder Bellway, the chairman, Howard Dawe, is to retire in January. The 68-year-old, who was chief executive from 1987 to 1999, will be replaced by the current chief, John Watson, who has been at Bellway for 'only' 34 years.

Meanwhile, Bellway completed 5,226 homes in the year to end July, 6 per cent more than the year before at an average selling price of £187,000 (£176,000). Reservations have been running 9 per cent higher than a year earlier, without extra sales incentives, which points to continued improvement in trading.
